Community Engagement
Our Approach
The SUBARU Group believes it is important to broaden the circle of person-to-person communication and create resonance and coexistence across society. Based on this belief, we have developed our social contribution policy in the hope of ingraining the practice of social contribution into corporate culture and to foster sincere commitment to such practice. In accordance with the policy, we promote social contribution activities in the four fields—community, environment, traffic safety, and sports and culture—which we have selected as befitting a socially responsible transportation equipment manufacturer.
Social Contribution Policy
- We contribute to the development of science and technology and mobility culture and to the promotion of traffic safety.
- We contribute to the fostering of human resources who understand the pleasure, importance and preciousness of manufacturing.
- We contribute to the development of the communities in which we operate.
- We support each other in contributing to society as good citizens.

The Four Fields of Community Engagement Initiatives
Management System
SUBARU has established the Social Contribution Committee to advance community engagement activities with the aim of making these activities an integral part of the SUBARU Group’s corporate culture and becoming a company that is trusted by stakeholders. The Social Contribution Committee is chaired by the Executive Officer in charge of the Sustainability Promotion Department, who is appointed by the Board of Directors. With participation of Chief General Managers from each business site and others, the committee works to advance community engagement initiatives. Under the committee, the cross-organizational Planning Subcommittee has been created to discuss issues related to company-wide activities, ranging from planning and preparation to implementation, evaluation, and review. The committee meets twice a year to compile reported activity results and issues for the SUBARU Group, and discuss improvement plans to invigorate efforts. In addition, the contents of discussions held by the Social Contribution Committee are reported to the Sustainability Committee, and important issues are submitted and reported to the Board of Directors, which oversees the Sustainability Committee.

Initiatives
Activity in the Community
Community Collaborative Art Project (Gunma Plant)
SUBARU is carrying out the Collaborative Art Project jointly with the Ota City and Oizumi Town, both in Gunma Prefecture. In FYE March 2026, the project invited local residents and SUBARU employees to submit works on the theme “Things We Would Love to Have in Our Town.” A total of 53 entries were received and displayed in Parking Lot No. 1 at the Oizumi Plant.
The project brought together participants from the local community and within SUBARU, and by providing a venue for displaying the works, SUBARU helped strengthen community ties and foster a sense of unity.
SUBARU × ICU Festival Model Car-Making Workshop (Tokyo Office)
SUBARU participated in the school festival at International Christian University (ICU), where it presented a hands-on manufacturing workshop for making model cars for the first time. At the workshop, Tokyo Office employees served as instructors and built stronger connections with local children and their guardians. The participating children also learned about the advantages of all-wheel drive (AWD) while having fun making model cars.
Participation in the 52nd Anniversary Ceremony (Airshow) of the Establishment of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Kitautsunomiya (Aerospace Company Utsunomiya Plant)
At this event held in Utsunomiya City, SUBARU exhibited the FUJI-BELL 205B helicopter. Our exhibition at this event was intended to introduce SUBARU as a member of local industry to residents living near our plant and to contribute to the revitalization of the local community by providing a place for interaction between SUBARU and residents.
Approximately 5,700 people, including families and aviation enthusiasts, attended the event. A space with pilot helmets and parachutes was provided for visitors to take commemorative photos, offering them an authentic experience.
Establishment of a Cool Share Spot (Subaru Kohsan Co., Ltd.)
At the request of Shibuya Ward, the showroom in the Ebisu Subaru Building is open to local residents as a “cool share spot” to cool off from the summer heat from June 1 through September 30. Subaru Kohsan Co., Ltd. joined the initiative in 2024 as the first private-sector facility in Shibuya Ward, and with more private-sector facilities now participating, the initiative is expanding.
Traffic Safety
Traffic Safety Awareness Activities (Gunma Plant, Tokyo Office, and Aerospace Company Utsunomiya Plant)
SUBARU consistently conducts traffic safety awareness activities in cooperation with local communities with the aim of raising traffic safety awareness.
At each of its sites, SUBARU conducts traffic safety training that includes practical exercises such as vehicle inspections and emergency braking, as well as awareness-raising activities for local residents. At the Gunma Plant, SUBARU held a traffic safety training session for Ota City employees in cooperation with the city, with 12 employees participating.
At the Tokyo Office, SUBARU also works with Mitaka Police Station to conduct motorcycle traffic safety training using the office’s test course. FYE March 2026 marked the 21st session, attended by 26 Tokyo Office employees, including employees of Subaru Tecnica International Inc. and Subaru Techno Corporation.
The Utsunomiya Plant of the Aerospace Company also participated in the Tochigi Prefecture-wide spring traffic safety campaign, conducting a range of traffic safety awareness activities for Utsunomiya residents.

Environment
Carbon-Neutral Outreach Class
Sponsored by the Super Taikyu MIRAI Organization (STMO), SUBARU held an outreach class on carbon neutrality at an elementary school in Miyagi Prefecture. Through experiences including watching a race and demonstration drives, as well as explanations of fuels and environmental technologies by SUBARU’s President and instructors from the racing team, the children recognized the importance of reducing CO2 emissions and environmental stewardship and deepened their understanding.
City of Mississauga Adopt a Park Program (Subaru Canada, Inc.)
Subaru Canada, Inc. has participated in the City of Mississauga’s Adopt a Park Program since 2024. This is an initiative in which volunteers collect litter in designated municipal parks to address the local issue of littering in public spaces. In summer 2025, employees conducted three cleanup activities at the local Samuel Common park, contributing to a cleaner environment.
Sports and Culture
Baseball Coaching by the SUBARU Baseball Team
SUBARU actively conducts community engagement activities through sports. With the cooperation of the Gunma Prefecture High School Baseball Federation, SUBARU’s Baseball Team holds the Gunma Prefectural High School Baseball Skills Training Course annually. Approximately 150 high school baseball players from across the prefecture participated in FYE March 2026.
The SUBARU Baseball Team also held a baseball clinic for children in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, attended by 100 children. In addition to instruction in basic skills and coaching by position from active players, challenge matches between players and children instilled the enjoyment of sports and the joy of taking on challenges, while providing an opportunity to deepen interaction with the community.
Fundraising for the 2026 World Deaf Baseball Championship
A fundraising campaign was organized by employee volunteers after an Aerospace Company employee was selected for Japan’s national deaf baseball team. A total of 604 people supported the initiative, and a donation was made to the Japan Deaf Baseball Association. Led by employees themselves, this initiative helped promote understanding of and support for sports for people with disabilities, while also fostering a sense of unity among employees.
The Subaru Love Promise®
At Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA), The Subaru Love Promise® is the vision to show love and respect to all people at every interaction with SUBARU.
SOA believes every day gives us an opportunity to positively impact the world around us–by how we support each other, our customers, and our community. Together, SOA is committed to making the world a better place.
The Subaru Love Promise® is made up of five individual promises that we practice to build up trust from our stakeholders. The Love Promise is what makes SOA More Than a Car Company® and a SUBARU dealership in the U.S. More Than a Car Dealer®.
Five Promises
Subaru Loves to Care® Initiative (Subaru of America, Inc.)
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) partners with Blood Cancer United® (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society [LLS]) to provide blankets, care packages, and messages of encouragement to cancer patients across the U.S. Furthermore, through the Blood Cancer United Urgent Need Pediatric Young Adult Program, SOA and dealerships across the U.S. provided financial assistance to patients’ families to help cover nonmedical expenses associated with treatment, including transportation, food, housing, and utilities. In 2025, through this partnership, approximately 75,000 cancer patients were supported and U.S.$1 million was donated.
The Subaru Share the Love® Event
SOA has been running the Love Campaign since 2008. This initiative was born in response to customers’ passionate sentiments expressed in the phrase “I love my Subaru.” It is a campaign that aligns with the feelings and values of customers who express their deep affection for SUBARU vehicles using the word “love” rather than “like.” That approach is especially represented during the year-end holiday season by the Share the Love® Event initiative. While large discounts are the norm during this season, the Share the Love® Event gives customers buying a SUBARU vehicle during this period the chance to select a charity aligned with their interests for SUBARU to donate to. This initiative aligns with the values of our customers who place great value on contributing to society. This initiative has been conducted annually since 2008, fulfilling SOA’s social responsibility while deepening its connection with the local community. In FYE March 2026, a total of U.S.$26.2 million was donated to national and local charities, bringing the cumulative total since 2008 to U.S.$346 million.
Cherishing Every Life Project
SUBARU is involved in the Cherishing Every Life Project together with SUBARU dealerships as an activity to expand the circle of Resonance and Coexistence through contributions to society. In this project, with its DNA rooted in its origins as an aircraft manufacturer, SUBARU continues to practice a people-oriented approach to manufacturing, where it places top priority on safety. Based on its longstanding core value of the protection of life, we are expanding our initiatives alongside customers and local communities.
Under the two project themes of human life, which is irreplaceable, and natural life, which is rich forests and plant and animal life, SUBARU is working to support people who have a strong belief in the protection of life and are working day by day to protect and connect life to a future full of happiness.
About the Cherishing Every Life Project (Japanese version only)
Human Life: Partnering with Dealerships to Support the Work of the Japan Lifesaving Association
SUBARU has entered into an official partnership with the Japan Lifesaving Association (JLA) to support its goal of “Free from Drowning.” Vehicles for use in monitoring activities and transporting emergency rescue equipment at beaches are provided as “SUBARU Lifesaver Cars,” and in FYE March 2026 the activity area was expanded to include coasts in 31 prefectures across Japan. Dealerships provided these vehicles, contributing to beach patrols and rescue and relief efforts during the summer. SUBARU and its dealerships also held hands-on lifeguard activity sessions for employees, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS: first aid for cardiac arrest or respiratory arrest) training sessions led by lifeguards. Together with customers, we consider what we can do to protect our own lives and the lives of those dear to us, while also working to promote emergency preparedness.

Natural Life: Partnerships with Environmental Organizations, Including Those Managing National Parks
SUBARU has entered into partnerships with the Shiretoko Nature Foundation, the Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Foundation, and the Natural Parks Foundation, supporting people engaged in protecting natural life.
We have provided the Shiretoko Nature Foundation with patrol cars to be used for park management, monitoring to ensure an appropriate distance between wildlife and people, as well as for reforestation activities to restore the rich and diverse forest that once existed on the former Shiretoko settlement site.
SUBARU has provided the Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Foundation with a Solterra BEV to support the foundation’s activities and Yakushima Island’s efforts to create an environment that promotes decarbonization. The vehicle is also expected to be used as a power supply vehicle in the event of a disaster.
We provide the Natural Parks Foundation with vehicles suited to its activities to support the operation and management of its parks. In FYE March 2026, we provided a Crosstrek to the Mt. Daisen Project Area of the Natural Parks Foundation’s Tottori Branch for use as a patrol car, and also organized an employee volunteer activity involving wetland creation for biodiversity conservation at Nasu Heisei-no-mori Forest, as well as events in the Kamikochi and Daisen areas where customers enjoyed nature and participated in conservation activities, thereby contributing to efforts to protect natural life.

Donation, Volunteer Activities, etc.
Employee Volunteer Award Program
Based on the concept of ingraining the practice of social contribution into corporate culture and to foster sincere commitment to such practice, SUBARU has established a volunteer award program to encourage each employee to participate in volunteer activities and to raise awareness of social contribution activities.
This award is given annually, and the Social Contribution Committee deliberates and selects winners from among the applicants. Submissions for the 21st round of awards in FYE March 2026 covered a wide range, including sports officiating and bone marrow donation. Award winners are engaged in their activities with the mindsets of wanting to do something to benefit the world and to inform more people about the activities they are engaged in.
Voluntary Employee Donation System
SUBARU has implemented a system where employees can easily use the company welfare program to donate to important causes. The four donation recipients are the Japanese Red Cross Society, the Central Community Chest of Japan (Red Feather), the Foundation for Orphans from Automobile Accident, and the Japan Committee for UNICEF. In FYE March 2026, 173 employees donated a total of 459,500 yen.
Blood Drive (Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.)
Since 1991, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) has held blood drives twice a year for more than 30 years. To date, it has provided approximately 18,000 units of blood to more than 80 hospitals throughout Indiana. In FYE March 2026, 807 units of blood were donated, potentially saving around 2,400 lives.
