Statement Concerning Impact of Kobe Steel’s Inappropriate Conduct Matter on Subaru-Made Vehicles (Final Report)

We apologize for any inconvenience and concern that Kobe Steel’s data falsification matter may have caused to our customers.

Subaru Corporation has investigated the potential impact of data falsification by Kobe Steel Ltd. on Subaru-made vehicles regarding all the materials that were referenced in Kobe Steel’s announcements on and after October 8, 2017 as well as their reports to Subaru.

Our investigations have confirmed that the materials directly purchased by Subaru as well as those purchased via suppliers by Subaru and its U.S. manufacturing plant, Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., all meet our internal quality standards. *1

As a result, we have now concluded that Subaru-made vehicles are not affected by the Kobe Steel data falsification matter.

Subaru will remain committed to the safety and peace of mind of our customers.

*1 - Result of the investigation regarding directly-purchased materials was already announced on October 19, 2017.
- There are no materials that Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. directly purchases from Kobe Steel.
