Subaru Participates in Demonstration Project for
Low-Carbon Gasoline Use
Tokyo, June 2, 2025 – Subaru Corporation participated in the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2025 Empowered by BRIDGESTONE Round 3 NAPAC Fuji 24 Hours Race, held from May 31 to June 1, with the HIGH PERFORMANCE X FUTURE CONCEPT vehicle running on low-carbon gasoline (E20) manufactured by ENEOS Corporation (ENEOS). During the event, Subaru also announced that it will continue to use this fuel in future races and take part in the demonstration project aimed at accelerating the widespread adoption of low-carbon gasoline.

Low-carbon gasoline (E20) is a fuel made by blending approximately 20% bioethanol with gasoline. While fuel with around 10% bioethanol blend (E10) is already in practical use in some overseas markets, Japan is currently working to establish the framework needed to support stable bioethanol procurement, the development of supply infrastructure, and the compatibility of the fuel with vehicles currently in use.
Through this project, by using E20 in the demanding environment of endurance racing, Subaru aims to accumulate valuable technical feedback that will advance future technological development.
Together with ENEOS and other automakers who share the same vision, Subaru will take on the all-Japan co-challenge of testing fuel to help accelerate its widespread adoption for the goal of achieving a carbon-neutral society.
