Since its debut in 1997, the Forester, which has inherited the fundamental value of a vehicle that can “go anywhere and be used for anything,” has been embraced by a wide range of global customers and occupies with a key role in the Subaru product portfolio. Forester has been one of the top-selling Subaru models, with more than 2.6 million vehicles sold in the U.S.
This sixth generation Forester has been enhanced into an SUV that can meet the expectations of all passengers in everyday to extraordinary environments, by further enhancing its functionality and practicality with excellent driving performance that makes it enjoyable, advanced safety features that provide peace of mind, and utility that can be used to the fullest.

Its exterior design offers a sturdy, stately sense of presence. The adoption of full inner frame construction increased body rigidity and combined with a dual-pinion electronic power steering rack enhanced the driving dynamics. The latest generation of EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology contributes to Forester’s exemplary safety performance. Also, the SUBARU STARLINK®11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is newly available in some trim levels.

The all-new Forester will launch in the U.S. this Spring, available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited and Touring trim levels.

Main features of the new Forester (U.S. model)
Design
・The exterior design offers a sturdy, stately sense of presence. The bold grille that merges into the compact LED headlights creates an integrated shield effect. The rear design provides an impression of greater width by visually connecting the left and right combination lamps in a high position and communicates increased cargo space with steeper rear gate glass.
・For the interior, the instrument panel and shift controls offer the sturdiness and security typical of SUVs, while a prominent multimedia system with large integrated center information display provides an intuitive user interface.

Driving Dynamics
・A revised Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with a faster response time, more agile handling, and better control both on- and off-road enhances dynamic performance.
・X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, which maximizes wheel control on slippery surfaces and steep inclines.
・2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine delivering 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque combined with a smoother and quieter Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
・A dual-pinion electronic power steering rack provides a more direct and natural steering feel and greater responsiveness.
・The Subaru Global Platform for the Forester has been enhanced with 10% stiffer torsional rigidity. A full inner frame construction with stronger welding techniques and additional structural adhesive contribute to greater body rigidity and deliver improved dynamic performance, a smoother ride, and a quieter cabin.
・The cabin also benefits from an enhanced focus on passengers and their interaction with the vehicle. The Forester offers ample head and leg room, and a more supportive front seat design increases overall comfort and minimizes fatigue.

Safety
・The latest EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which features a wider field of view and updated control software is standard on all trims. Updated recognition and control software operates over a wider and more distant range.
・Emergency Stop Assist is adopted, which activates if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings while using Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. It will stop the vehicle, activate the hazard lights, and unlock the doors. SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services will then place a call to emergency services.
・The addition of an electric brake booster enables quicker deceleration when Automatic Emergency Braking is activated, such as when a bicycle rushes out in front of the vehicle. Quick deceleration is also realized when a car suddenly enters the vehicle’s path when Adaptive Cruise Control is operating.
・A standard Rear Seat Reminder is designed to help prevent child and pet entrapment by alerting the driver to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle.

Utilities
・The vehicle’s climate control system has been updated to focus on occupied seats (vs. entire cabin) for improved comfort and fuel economy.
・The available SUBARU STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is available in particular trims and includes wireless Apple CarPlay®*1 and wireless Android AutoTM*2.
・A kick sensor-activated Hands-Free Power Rear Gate enables owners to open and close the rear gate automatically simply by placing their foot under the rear bumper cover.
