Japan-U.S. Joint Cleanup on Earth Day

On April 22, 2025, SUBARU and Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) jointly held the first-ever Earth Day* Cleanup event for Earth and local communities that we, the SUBARU Group, care deeply about.

*
A day of events and activities for environmental protection, which began in the United States in 1970, and is held around the world every year on April 22. Around a billion people are said to participate worldwide each year.

This is the first time that SUBARU and SOA have undertaken community engagement initiatives at the same time. On the day of the event, more than 150 employees in the U.S. and Japan participated in cleanup events in their respective areas, from Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania to our Head Office in Ebisu and our Gunma and Utsunomiya area locations.

Cleanup activities by SOA employees

In the SUBARU Group’s community engagement Vision for 2025, we state that “the SUBARU Group’s entire workforce is fully aware of the importance of community engagement.” The reason for this cleanup activity was to take global action to bring us closer to embodying this vision. Employees from SOA and the Ebisu Head Office launched this joint program and worked together across different time zones and language barriers to bring the event to fruition. A participating employee commented, “I really felt like I was part of ’One SUBARU.’ Even though we were on opposite sides of the globe, we were doing the same thing with the same feelings.” Though the participants had only met via online meetings, their actual cooperation went beyond mere cleanup and embodied the values of the SUBARU Group and our desire to become ’One SUBARU.’
The SUBARU Group intends to continue Earth Day activities in the future by increasing the number of participating sites throughout the Group on a global basis.
