SUBARU’s efforts to reduce accidents through tech tours for media and analysts

In February 2023, a tech tour for media and analysts was held at the SUBARU Research and Experiment Center. The tour was designed to provide an experience of SUBARU’s efforts to reduce accidents. It was the third such tour, following the first in August 2022 and the second in November 2022, and had the theme of active safety. Over the course of two days, approximately 70 members of the media, journalists, and securities analysts participated in the event, where they had the opportunity to experience test drives of the new Crosstrek and the Solterra, and engage in presentations through face-to-face meetings with executives and employees from the Engineering Division and Product & Portfolio Planning Division.
SUBARU believes that by fine-tuning the basic functions of a vehicle—driving, turning, and stopping—drivers can feel confident driving under various weather and road conditions, just as they would during normal circumstances. Even in the event of a potential accident, the driver will be able to mitigate the impact or maintain control to enhance safety. To highlight this, we introduced initiatives with an emphasis on the ability to drive safely under various weather and road conditions. In addition, at SUBARU, we provide a unique engineer development program that focuses on enhancing engineers’ driving skills, refining their sensibilities and evaluation capabilities, and incorporating these aspects into our development process. In the tour, we provided an overview of the Subaru Driving Academy, established to nurture such talent, its features, benefits, and our participation in the Super Taikyu Series.
Through the event, we successfully showcased the SUBARU Difference in vehicle manufacturing, which remains constant even amid the rise of electrification, highlighting the evolution of our proprietary technologies such as AWD control, thereby fostering expectations for the future of SUBARU.
