Now let’s look into the reasons behind the changes in extraordinary income and loss.
Extraordinary income dropped 1.3 billion yen year on year to total 3.9 billion yen despite a gain of 0.8 billion yen due to the revision of retirement benefit plan implemented in FYE March 2009.
Extraordinary loss increased 2.1 billion yen over the previous fiscal year’s total of 18.7 billion yen. The factors behind this increase include a loss of 8.9 billion yen associated with Eclipse’s filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy under the U.S. bankruptcy code and a loss of 3.0 billion yen due to expenses incurred for withdrawal from the WRC, though we also posted a 5.5 billion yen loss on sales and retirement of noncurrent assets as a result of the renovation of the Gunma Yajima Plant’s paint shop during FYE March 2008 and a 13.2 billion yen impairment loss associated with the Gunma Manufacturing Division’s minicar production facilities due to the start of OEM supply by Daihatsu. |
