All-new Subaru XV Awarded IIHS 2012 "TOP SAFETY PICK"
- Subaru Remains the Only Manufacturer for the Third Consecutive Year
with IIHS Top Rank Awards for All Models -

Tokyo, October 9, 2012 - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS: the U.S. nonprofit organization supported by auto insurers) has recognized the all-new Subaru XV Crosstrek ( "Subaru XV" outside of North America) as a 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK. The announcement was made by Subaru of America, Inc.* With the XV added to the winners’ list, Subaru remains the only manufacturer for the third consecutive year with IIHS Top Safety Pick awards for all models currently sold in North America.

The all-new XV Crosstrek earned a "good" rating – the top rank – in the moderate overlap frontal, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations.

"The XV Crosstrek brings Subaru all-wheel drive and crossover technology into the small CUV segment," said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. "Our buyers know that Subaru means safety and adding XV Crosstrek to our 100% list of IIHS Top Safety Picks is proof of that."

The TOP SAFETY PICK recognizes vehicles that, in IIHS testing, do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now rollover crashes based on 'good' ratings in each category. The IIHS ranks in terms of Good, Acceptable, Marginal and Poor, with 'good' as the top rank possible in Institute tests. Winners also must have electronic stability control.

With "Confidence in Motion" as its brand statement, FHI is committed to offering its customers Subaru’s distinctive "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind" driving experience. Subaru will continue to enhance its active, passive and pre-crash safety technologies to embody its commitment to all-around safety as the foundation of "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind" for the customers.
