Looking at the total consolidated automobile sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009, domestic minicar sales volume decreased for all models with a drop of 21.9 thousand units from the previous fiscal year. Among passenger cars, sales of the Legacy were down 10.7 thousand units as it approached the end of its current model cycle. Sales of the Impreza dropped 9.9 thousand units as new car effect was gone, and sales of the Forester were also down by 0.4 thousand units since the impact of its new model launch had completely subsided by December. Though sales of our new models, the Exiga and Dex, increased by 11.1 thousand units and 2 thousand units respectively, the total decrease in domestic passenger car sales to 8 thousand units. Overall domestic sales dipped 29.9 thousand units on a year-on-year basis.

Despite increases of 2 thousand units for the Impreza and 18.9 thousand units for the Forester, overall sales were down 4.5 thousand units in the U.S. market with a decrease of 15.9 thousand units for the Legacy as it approached the end of its current model cycle and a decrease of 9.5 thousand units for the Tribeca. Sales in Canada experienced an overall increase of 1.3 thousand units thanks to the positive effect of the new Forester. In Russia sales fell off by 1.9 thousand units due to the inventory adjustment for the fourth quarter. Sales in the European market were also down by 6.6 thousand units due to the fourth quarter inventory adjustment, despite a sales spike for the Forester. Australian sales were down 3.5 thousand units due also to the inventory adjustment for the fourth quarter. In China sales were up 13.6 thousand units thanks to a 16 thousand units jump in Forester sales. In other markets, sales were down 9.7 thousand units due to the decline in sales for the Legacy and Impreza as well as inventory adjustments. These performance results added up to an overall decrease of 11.4 thousand units in overseas markets. Combined with the drop in domestic sales, total sales were down 41.3 thousand units.
