Looking at the consolidated automobile sales for the third quarter (three months) ending March 2009, in comparison with the same period of the previous fiscal year, passenger car sales in Japan decreased by 2.2 thousand units, comprised of a decrease of 3.2 thousand Legacy units and a decrease of 2.2 thousand Impreza units, which were not compensated for by the effects of new models such as Forester, Exiga and Dex. All minicar models decreased, for a total 6.2 thousand units decline. Domestic total decreased by 8.4 thousand units.

Overseas, in U.S., Forester sales grew by 8.1 thousand units, for a total increase of 3.2 thousand units. Canada decreased by 0.7 thousand units with decrease in sales of Legacy and Impreza. Russia decreased by 2.3 thousand units with decreases in all models. Europe increased by 0.1 thousand units, with 5.3 thousand more Foresters sold. Australia decreased by 2.4 thousand units, with decreased sales of Legacy and Impreza. China increased by 5.9 thousand units, with 6.2 thousand more Foresters sold. In other regions, sales were almost the same as last year. Total overseas sales increased by 3.7 thousand units , which did not compensate for the reduction in domestic sales, resulting in total sales decreasing by 4.7 thousand units.
