The total number of passenger cars sold in the domestic market decreased by 1 thousand units, as Legacy decreased by 7.6 thousand units and Impreza by 7.9 thousand units, compensated by increased sales of Forester by 5 thousand units due to the effect of a full model change, 8.8 thousand units Exiga, a new model, and 900 units Dex via OEM supply from Daihatsu Motor Co, Ltd.
On the other hand, minicars totally decreased by 12.5 thousand units as Stella decreased by 3.9 thousand units, Pleo by 2.8 thousand units, R2 by 1.2 thousand units and Sambar by 4.6 thousand units. Total domestic sales decreased by 13.4 thousand units.
Abroad, in U.S. total sales increased by 3.4 thousand units, as Impreza increased by 2.9 thousand units and Forester by 12.1 thousand units, although Legacy decreased by 6.4 thousand units as it is the final stage of its model cycle, and Tribeca decreased by 5.3 thousand units.
Canada decreased by 0.2 thousand units, as an increase in the number of Forester vehicles did not compensate for a decrease in the number of Legacy and Impreza vehicles.
Russia increased by 3.2 thousand units as all vehicles units increased excluding Legacy, and Europe also increased by 6.1 thousand units due to the introduction of Legacy with a boxer diesel engine and growth of the new model Forester.
Australia decreased by 1.4 thousand units due to a decrease in Legacy and Impreza.
China increased by 10.8 thousand units, boosted by 11.8 thousand Forester units.
Other regions decreased by 2 thousand units due to a decrease in Legacy and Impreza.
Accordingly, the total sales increase was 6.3 thousand units due to an increase of 19.7 thousand units overseas sales compensating for a decrease in the domestic market sales. |
