The consolidated number of automobile sales for passenger cars decreased by 0.4 thousand units in the domestic market for the 3-month-long 3rd quarter. Although the Legacy fell by 1.7 thousand units, the number of the Impreza units increased by 1.2 thousand and the Forester by 0.1 thousand units.
Domestic sales of minicars showed a total drop of 3.1 thousand units. Sales of the R2 were up 0.3 thousand units but all other minicar sales declined. Total domestic sales was 3.5 thousand unit decrease compared to the same period of previous fiscal year.
In the U.S., except for outgoing Forester models, sales increased 5.6 thousand units. Sales for all models rose in Canada as well, resulting in a growth of 2.4 thousand units. In Europe, sales increased by 2.8 thousand units in Russia, but vehicle sale, particularly the Forester sales, dropped off in the former Western European countries resulting in a 0.3 unit decline. In Australia, the all-new Impreza fared well with a 1.0 thousand unit increase. There was 0.7 thousand unit increase in China, and favorable sales in other regions such as Singapore, Israel, Chile showed an increase of 2.6 thousand units.
The overseas sales total increased by 11.3 thousand units, and the grand total increased by 7.8 thousand units. |
