In the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2009, total passenger cars sold in domestic market increased 1.2 thousand units compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year by an effect of the new Forester underwent full model change amounting to 4.3 thousand units and the brand new model Exiga amounting to 7.1 thousand units, though deducting by a decrease of 4.4 thousand units of Legacy and a 5.8 thousand units of Impreza. Minicars decreased by 6.3 thousand units since there were no new models launch. The total number of vehicles for the domestic market sold decreased by 5.1 thousand units.
Overseas, in the United States, an increase of 2.7 thousand units of Impreza and 4.0 thousand units of Forester compensated for a decrease of 6.2 thousand units of Legacy and 0.3 thousand units of Tribeca, making a total of 0.2 thousand units increase. In Canada, total sales increased by 0.5 thousand units in spite of decrease of Legacy.
In Russia, an increase of 5.5 thousand units based on growth of sales of Impreza, Forester, and Tribeca.
In Europe, except Russia, as a result of introducing the world's first boxer-diesel engine for a passenger car, Legacy increased by 4.3 thousand units and in addition to the new Forester growth by 8.8 thousand units, totaling to 6.0 thousand units increase.
In Australia, all cars sale grew, excluding Legacy, to 1.0 thousand units.
In China, the sales of Forester increased by 5.6 thousand units, resulting in an increase of total 4.9 thousand units.
In other regions, though the sales of Forester increased by 1.6 thousand units, other models sales decrease made the totally 1.9 thousand deduction compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Accordingly, sales increase of 16.0 thousand units in overseas market compensated for the decrease of 5.1 thousand units sales in domestic market, then a total of 11.0 thousand units increase. |
