The consolidated sales volume for the 1st quarter of the term ending March 2007 saw an increase of 3.9 thousand units year-on-year basis.
In Japan, sales of the Legacy was declined by an 8 hundred unit, which major facelift did not have much impact on overall sales performance. Sales of other models performed below par as well, including a 3 hundred unit decrease for the Impreza and a 1.2 thousand unit decrease for the Forester. Minicar sales dipped by 1.9 thousand units in total, with the R2 and R1 down by 2.9 thousand units, the Pleo down by 2.9 thousand units and the Sambar down by 1.1 thousand units, despite a sales increase of 4.9 thousand units for the new Stella. Overall domestic sales totaled 45.1 thousand units, which was 4.4 thousand units less than in the same period of last year.
In overseas markets, the U.S. market saw sales of the B9 Tribeca reach 2.7 thousand units with a 2.6 thousand unit increase for the Impreza along with a decrease of 2.2 thousand units for the Legacy. Overall U.S. sales inched up by 3.1 thousand units. In Canada sales were up by 4 hundred units thanks to the effect of the new B9 Tribeca and favorable sales of models other than the Legacy. European sales edged up 3.8 thousand units with robust sales of the Forester and Impreza. Australian sales rose by 4 hundred units with the Legacy leading the way. In other areas sales were up by 6 hundred units thanks to increased sales of the Forester. All this led to an overall increase of 8.3 thousand units in overseas markets.
